My Export Failed or Was Blocked

The export starts and does not finish, or it refuses before it starts.

"Export not permitted" on Android or iOS

The app needs permission to write the file, and it was declined at some point.

The destination depends on the format rather than the platform: image exports go to your photo library, and PDFs are kept in the app until you share or save them. It is the photo library access that needs permission.

To fix it, open the system settings for Docuslice and grant the storage or photo permission. The app offers a shortcut to that screen when it hits the refusal, so you can go straight there.

Then run the export again. Nothing was lost — the poster is untouched.

The export stops partway or the app closes

Almost always memory. Exporting builds a full-resolution rendering of every tile, and a large poster at a high resolution is a lot of pixels at once.

In order of effectiveness:

  1. Lower the export resolution. Max (600) is four times the linear density of Standard (160) and roughly fourteen times the data. Try High, or Standard. See export resolution.
  2. Close other apps to free memory, especially on phones.
  3. Export as images instead of a PDF. Tiles are written individually rather than assembled into one large document.
  4. Split the job. Two smaller posters are easier than one very large one.
  5. Use a bigger paper size, which cuts the tile count for the same finished poster.
  6. Use the browser or desktop app if you have been working on a phone. Desktop hardware has far more memory to spend.

Do not leave the app during an export on a phone — a backgrounded export can be terminated by the system.

The export is very slow

Large posters at Max resolution genuinely take minutes. The progress display shows a real page count, so if the number is climbing it is working.

If it is not climbing at all, treat it as the memory case above.

Nothing happened when I pressed export

Check that you are signed in. Exporting normally requires an account on every platform, and the app prompts you to sign in rather than exporting.

A specific tile came out wrong

Export as images and reprint the single tile rather than the whole poster. Page numbers make finding it trivial — see page numbers on tiles.
