Signing In and Accounts

Editing does not require an account. Exporting does, on every platform — browser, desktop, Android and iOS alike. Creating one is free.

Ways to sign in

  • Sign in with Google
  • Sign in with Apple
  • Email and a one-time pin — enter your email, receive a six-digit pin, enter the pin. There is no password to choose or forget. The pin expires after five minutes.

You can also add a passkey afterwards, which replaces the pin step with your device's own unlock — Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello or a security key.

Why an account is needed to export

Your account is what carries your plan. Overlap, vector PDF export and the higher export resolutions are paid features, and the export preview is where the app has to know whether you have them. It is also what lets a purchase made on one device be recognised on another.

If you are on the free plan, signing in still costs nothing.

What your account holds

  • Which plan you are on, and the purchase behind it
  • The devices registered to it — see the device limit
  • Your username, profile picture and preferences

It does not hold your projects. Projects live on the device that made them and are never uploaded. See projects and where your work is saved.

Did not receive the pin

  • Check the spam folder. The pin arrives from an automated address.
  • Confirm the email is spelt as you registered it.
  • Pins expire. If yours has, request a new one rather than reusing the old email.
  • If you receive a pin you did not ask for, someone typed your address into the sign-in screen. Your account is not at risk — a pin alone does nothing without the mailbox it was sent to. Ignore it, and consider adding a passkey.

Signing out deletes your local projects

Read this before you sign out on Android or iOS. The app warns you, and the warning is literal:

We currently save all data locally. We don't support cloud data syncing at the moment. All local data like projects and files will be deleted. Are you sure you want to signout?

Signing out removes every project and its files from the device. Because nothing is synced to a server, there is no copy anywhere else and nothing to restore afterwards.

Export anything you want to keep before signing out. Exported files are separate and are not touched.

On the browser and desktop apps there is nothing stored to lose — see projects and where your work is saved.
